West Ham news round-up: Shock transfer possible as new Jarrod Bowen claim made

West Ham went into the international break with real positivity.

Graham Potter endured a difficult start to the season, but oversaw an excellent 3-0 away win against Nottingham Forest last time out.

There are 10 West Ham players on duty for their national teams, all looking to continue their form from the last game.

Although it’s an international break, there are still plenty of stories happening, and West Ham Zone rounds up all of the latest news from the last 24 hours.

David Sullivan personally intervenes in Andre Onana transfer

West Ham were offered the chance to sign Manchester United’s Andre Onana this summer, but turned down the opportunity.

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, the Hammers had the opportunity to sign the goalkeeper on loan towards the end of the transfer window.

However, after the Cameroonian’s two errors against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup, David Sullivan stepped in to stop the deal from happening.

With Mads Hermansen struggling in between the sticks and Alphonse Areola seemingly on his way out, expect the Hammers to continue to look into the market for another shot stopper.

Hammers youngster given Mark Noble seal of approval ahead of squad return

George Earthy is set to be included in the West Ham squad to face Tottenham this weekend.

Earthy was on loan at Bristol City in the Championship last season, but has yet to feature for West Ham this campaign.

The midfielder picked up an ankle ligament injury in pre-season, but looks set to be involved against Spurs.

The youngster has already garnered high praise from Hammers legend Mark Noble, with fans excited to see him in action.

Speaking after Earthy won the Young Hammer of the Year award in 2024, Noble said: “He has a fantastic attitude towards his development.

“He works hard on and off the pitch, listens to advice and always wants to get better.”

Calls for Jarrod Bowen to start for England in crucial away game

West Ham skipper Jarrod Bowen has been tipped to start in England’s away trip to Serbia on Tuesday.

Bowen missed out on international duty in June, but was called up this time around and could be in line to start in Belgrade.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Ally McCoist said: “I’d love to see Jarrod Bowen, we spoke about it yesterday. Jarrod Bowen is the one I’d love to see get a start.”

Bowen has scored once in his 16 caps for the Three Lions, but could be the spark the attack needs after looking so toothless against Andorra at Villa Park.

Lukasz Fabianski linked with shock return

West Ham have been linked with a sensational transfer for Lukasz Fabianski, following the departure of Wes Foderingham.

The Hammers spent big on Hermansen from Leicester, but he has failed so far to live up to his £20million transfer fee.

West Ham tried on multiple occasions to sign John Victor from Botafogo, but failed before being offered Onana by Manchester United.

Fabianski has now been linked with a shock return to the London Stadium, to be third choice, with Foderingham understood to be moving to Cyprus.

The Pole played in over 300 games for the Hammers and was part of the team that won the UEFA Europa Conference League.
