West Ham news round-up: Graham Potters days numbered as boardroom divide emerges over replacement

West Ham have continued to attract media attention, with Graham Potter’s future in the balance.

The Hammers have won just six games in 2025 and have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season, with 13.

West Ham fans lined the streets before the game against Crystal Palace in protest against their owners and are expecting big changes.

With developments surrounding Potter’s future, one of the biggest talking points, West Ham Zone rounds up all the news from the last 24 hours.

West Ham could now launch new Manuel Locatelli offer

The Hammers are set to be back in the hunt for a new midfielder in January, with their current set not living up to expectations.

Potter’s side have previously been linked with bringing in Manuel Locatelli to the London Stadium, though a move for the Italian has never materialised.

West Ham could reignite their interest in Locatelli, as seen in Italian outlet Tutto Juve’s report on 24 September, via Radio Radio, that Juventus are now open to selling the 27-year-old.

He is “no longer considered untouchable” by Juventus, but fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Wolves are also ready to make offers ahead of January.

Paul Konchesky unsure how fans would react to Nuno Espirito Santo

Nuno Espirito Santo has been linked with the West Ham job should they choose to part ways with Potter.

The Portuguese manager appeared to disagree with the Nottingham Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, over the way their summer transfer business had been handled.

Speaking live via Give Me Sport’s X account on 24 September, ex-Leicester defender Paul Konchesky expressed that he believes Nuno is too similar to David Moyes.

He said: “I think at first people would say it’s a good appointment, but his style is much like David Moyes’. If you look at Nottingham Forest, they defended their box and played on the counter.

“For me, that’s how Moyes played, and the West Ham fans eventually didn’t like that way. Nuno is like Moyes, so it would be interesting to see what the fans think.”

West Ham fans plan lock-in protest vs Newcastle

Demonstrations against the Hammers hierarchy have been expected to increase following the defeat to Crystal Palace.

The protest before the game at home to the Eagles was attended by about 3,000 fans, with David Sullivan continuing to frustrate supporters.

West Ham fans are now expected to stage a lock-in at the London Stadium at full-time for their game against Newcastle on 2 November.

Other demonstrations are expected for the home fixture against Brentford, with Potter possibly no longer in the dugout for the fixtures.

Before then, the Hammers face two tough fixtures against Everton and Arsenal, with frustrations expected to grow should they lose.

Graham Potter’s ‘days are numbered’ – Troy Deeney

Sullivan is reportedly being pushed by senior figures to reappoint Slaven Bilic after their poor run of form.

However, the Welsh businessman appears prepared to wait until the October international break to make a decision, with the differing opinions causing confusion among supporters.

Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has blasted Karren Brady and Sullivan for their lack of decisiveness when it comes to finding a replacement for Potter.

Speaking to TalkSPORT [22 September], he said: “It just doesn’t feel right and I think Potter’s days are numbered. But I think it is now indicative of who West Ham are.

“Who’s going to make the final decision? By all accounts, Brady wants to get Nuno in, and Sullivan wants Bilic back.

“They’re not even on the same planet though, are they? They’re not going for the same type of manager. One’s going for nostalgia, one’s going for pragmatic.”
