West Ham news: James Ward-Prowse transfer will ‘be a struggle’ to complete
West Ham United’s potential move for Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse will “be a struggle”, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Mirror revealed on Wednesday 15 June that David Moyes is “keen” to bring the midfielder to the London Stadium.
However, ExWHUemployee believes any move for the 27-year-old England man will be hard to complete.
The club insider replied to a tweet questioning whether the Hammers could afford a move for Ward-Prowse: “Gonna be a struggle I would say.
“Even though I keep being told we want him, his valuation is going to be very high.”
Stay clear
Moyes surely has to stay clear of any potential move for the midfielder.
The 27-year-old is contracted to Southampton until the summer of 2026 and will likely command a huge fee to test the Saints’ resolve.
Surely Moyes would be far better off exploring a cheaper option in the midfield?
West Ham don’t have an endless supply of cash to use this summer so they cannot be spending huge fees or overspending when they don’t need to.
Ward-Prowse is a good player, there is no denying that and he clearly possesses a dead ball quality that could provide results at the London Stadium.

However, considering the midfielder’s age he is likely only going to decline from now which means any big money move will likely see the Hammers lose money.
Moyes has been linked with plenty of names already this summer, it is now time for him to actually get down to business.
In other West Ham news, an £8million asking price has been set out for the club to add a second signing hot on the heels of the imminent first.
