West Ham named as potential destination for Layvin Kurzawa

West Ham have been listed as a potential destination for Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa, according to Foot Mercato.

David Moyes’ side are in the hunt for a top four place in the Premier League while also qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League in an excellent season so far.

But injuries have decimated their squad and they have secured just one win from their last seven games so far, including being knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Now reports in France suggest that PSG left-back Kurzawa is keen to leave the club after making zero appearances in Ligue 1 this season and Foot Mercato have listed West Ham as possible suitors.

The 29-year-old has been with the Parisian giants since 2015 after coming through the AS Monaco academy and winning Ligue 2 with them.

But after the arrival of Nuno Mendes in the summer, he is now third-choice and wants regular football again.

Odd choice

Kurzawa has always been a talented defender, but attitude problems have followed him around for years.

Considering the type of squad that David Moyes has built at West Ham, it would be an interesting choice to add a character like Kurzawa’s to the squad.

Ben Johnson has stepped up brilliantly from the academy and with Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku also more than competent options to play at left-back, the arrival of Kurzawa just isn’t one that makes much sense.

He’d likely be available for a relatively low fee considering he is surplus to requirements, but the Irons just don’t need to be looking in his direction.

It’s not a position they need to bolster, he isn’t a player they need to bolster the squad with and this isn’t an opportunity they just can’t pass up.
