West Ham keen on loan move for Arsenal man Ainsley Maitland-Niles

West Ham are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan during the January transfer window, according to ExWHUemployee.

The trusted Hammers source claimed in the West Ham Way Patreon that the five-cap England international, 24, is one of the players on David Moyes’ radar ahead of next month.

Maitland-Niles is out of favour at the Emirates Stadium, and could be allowed to leave in a temporary deal until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Solid option

The Irons want to bolster their squad for the second half of the campaign, and they could be landing a quality utility player in the Gunners academy graduate.

While he mainly plays as a central midfielder, Maitland-Niles can also be deployed as a right-back or a left wing-back, and having someone capable of filling in three positions would do the London Stadium outfit a lot of good.

While West Ham are not short of quality options at right-back, with Ben Johnson, Vladimir Coufal and Harrison Ashby available, the same cannot be said of their left-back options.

Aaron Cresswell is currently out injured, with Arthur Masuaku failing to provide quality cover, and AMN would be an upgrade on him.

Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek could do with a top backup in midfield, and the Arsenal man can be available to come in with Mark Noble hanging his boots at the end of the campaign.

Maitland-Niles is not short of suitors ahead of the winter window, and West Ham will have to guarantee him regular playing minutes to have a chance of pipping competition to his signature.
