West Ham interest in Stephy Mavididi could indicate Nikola Vlasic departure is imminent

West Ham are reportedly interested in Montpellier winger Stephy Mavididi – and that could be a big indication as to where Nikola Vlasic’s future lies.

As revealed by Guardian Journalist Fabrizio Romano on his personal Twitter account [3 June], the Hammers are among a host of English clubs monitoring the former Arsenal youngster.

West Ham’s interest in the winger could well make their stance on Vlasic clear.

As per the Mirror [17 May], the Hammers are eager to offload the Croatian attacker this summer and news of their interest in Mavididi could well indicate that the Hammers are coming closer to moving Vlasic on.

David Moyes is working with an extremely small squad at present so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him lineup replacements for players that are potentially departing.

Sadly for Vlasic, the Premier League looks to be a step too far with the Hammers seemingly resigned to the fact that it won’t work for the winger at the London Stadium.

His previous Premier League spell at Everton didn’t go much better.

West Ham

Mavididi has eight goals and three assists for the Ligue 1 outfit this season and at 24 could be an exciting signing for the Hammers should Moyes choose to pursue a move for the winger.

It is unlikely Moyes will be willing to let one of his attacking players leave the club unless there is a ready-made replacement lined up.

If the Hammers can recoup half of the £27million they paid for Vlasic then they will be lucky.

It’s a move that hasn’t worked and the Irons must cut their losses.
