West Ham injury update as MOM Benrahma comes off injured
West Ham manager David Moyes believes all of the injuries sustained in their 4-0 win over Norwich should not be too serious.
Man of the match Said Benrahma was forced off in the 76th minute with an ankle issue.
Beforehand, the Irons were forced to take off striker Michail Antonio and Craig Dawson, who both succumbed to injuries.
Talking to Sky Sports, Moyes said: “Dawson was a kick in the calf, Michail had a hip problem and I think he could’ve continued at half-time.
“I took the decision, given the scoreline, to not take any risks.”
Moyes added: “Said I think has done his ankle a little bit, I don’t think it’s too serious so hopefully he’ll be okay.”
Despite West Ham playing already relegated Norwich, It was refreshing to see Benrahma back in form.
The Algerian has shown moments of brilliance during his time at the London Stadium, just not often enough.
He hasn’t played with the swagger or style that he so regularly did for Brentford in the Championship.
However, despite an indifferent season, the winger has managed to notch an impressive goal involvement record.
Benrahma has eleven goals and six assists, which is the third most productive at the club.
This injury has come at a bad time, after seemingly discovering his form again at Carrow Road.
If Benrahma was able to be more consistent in his displays then he would be rivalling Bowen as the Hammers’ most effective attacker.
Regardless, 17 goals and assists this season cannot be called a bad return and will certainly silence some of his doubters.
Next season, if he can stay fit and provide the same output, then there is no doubt the Algerian will become one of West Ham’s prized assets.
