West Ham in the hunt for Rasmus Kristensen among group of 5 teams hovering for full-back

West Ham are back in the hunt for Red Bull Salzburg full-back Rasmus Kristensen but face competition from four others for his signature, according to Bild.

The Hammers previously chased the Dane back in 2020 but were unable to secure him before eventually bringing in Vladimir Coufal.

But David Moyes is apparently back in for the 24-year-old who has been showing good form in the Austrian Bundesliga, but will have to overcome Roma, Borussia Dortmund, Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg in order to sign him.

The international is reportedly valued at £10.8million (€13million) and his manager Matthias Jaissle has said of him, via Sport Witness: He is an absolute leader on the pitch. His emotions push the whole team. As a right-back, he has a very strong offensive drive, marches up and down the line and is also a goal threat,”

Coincidence?

The attacking full-back has scored an impressive nine goals this season while adding a further seven assists in all competitions.

The report has come out after the Irons’ incumbent Coufal, had one of his most disastrous games at the London Stadium, despite generally being a solid performer.

The Czech endured a nightmare second half in the 2-2 draw against Leicester on Sunday before being substituted.

He appeared entirely unable to cope in the face of the attacking threat of Harvey Barnes, and played a part in the visitors second goal when he stood off the winger and allowed him to put a cross in.

Coufal’s replacement during that game, Ryan Fredericks, and the other right-back in the squad Ben Johnson are both set to become free agents at the end of the season so it makes sense that the club would be looking for reinforcements.

But they will need to be more effective in the transfer market than they were in January where they were reportedly in for numerous players but managed to bring in none of them.

Moyes has done an excellent job in East London since he returned to the club but transfer windows are one area that have left something to be desired.
