West Ham in ‘deep trouble’ as Chris Sutton predicts Newcastle clash
West Ham play host to Newcastle this weekend, with hopes of picking up only their second win of the season.
Not only is it looking like a possibility, but relegation is looking likely for West Ham, who, after nine games, have accumulated just four points.
West Ham have the worst defensive record in the league, and to make matters worse, they have also have the joint-worst offensive record in the league alongside Wolves.
With Newcastle travelling to the London Stadium on Sunday, Chris Sutton can’t see either of those things changing anytime soon.

Chris Sutton highlights West Ham weakness
Quite frankly, we could be here for days listing all of the weaknesses that have been showcased by West Ham, whether they were under Graham Potter or Nuno Espirito Santo.
However, the fact of the matter is that there are far too many to not be concerned about the Irons’ chances of survival this season.
Newcastle are favourites to beat West Ham on Sunday, and Sutton has followed suit with his prediction via BBC Sport.
“West Ham, in contrast, are in deep trouble,” Sutton explained.
“Nuno Espirito Santo had a free week to work on things on the training ground, but whoever he picks, it doesn’t seem to make much difference.
“The Hammers concede a lot of goals from set-plays, and I feel as if Newcastle are going to just be too strong for them in every area.“
West Ham vs Newcastle head-to-head
Dating all the way back to 1908, West Ham and Newcastle have faced off against each other on 146 occasions.
The Hammers have won 44, while Newcastle have won 61, with the remaining 41 ending in a draw.
To make matters worse, the Irons have won just one of their last seven meetings with the North East outfit, with a 2-0 away win back in 2024.

Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were on the scoresheet on that day, and could both have a huge role to play again on Sunday afternoon.
Three players who won’t be involved are Oliver Scarles, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Niclas Fullkrug, who are all undergoing treatment for injuries.
