West Ham have ‘gone flat’ as Alan Shearer worries over form
West Ham laboured to a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United on Saturday as they lost ground in the race for the top four.
Craig Dawson’s powerful header had given the Irons the lead in the first half but Joe Willock capitalised on an error from Declan Rice to level things up just before the break.
The result did move the Hammers one point closer to Manchester United in fourth but the Red Devils have a game in hand while Arsenal have three and drew level on points with victory against Brentford.

Alan Shearer is concerned for David Moyes’ side as their current form begins to peter out while others around them are picking up.
“In the position that they are they would have taken that at the beginning of the season but they have gone a little bit flat but I’m sure they will get back,” Shearer said on BBC Match of the Day.
Overachieving
The fact that West Ham are challenging the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League table speaks volumes of the progression of the club.
Maybe now is the time for some perspective from Irons fans and remember that things can’t suddenly change overnight.

Last season was a phenomenal one for the Hammers but while they will hope to achieve those heights, or even more, every year, it isn’t going to happen in this day and age.
A top-eight finish even is still a superb year for West Ham with the added games that the Europa League has brought upon them and success on the continent is arguably more important than domestically this season.
There’s no need for panic from Hammers supporters even if some of the country’s biggest clubs get ahead in the Premier League.
In other West Ham news, the vice-captain has sent well wishes to a non-league player after a horror injury yesterday.
