West Ham fans face crisis getting home after loss v Spurs as fire breaks out near London Stadium

West Ham fans are facing a nightmare in their efforts to get home after the defeat against Tottenham.

Tottenham battered West Ham 3-0 on Saturday as the London Stadium crowd was once again subject to an abject performance.

It was deja vu from when West Ham lost 4-1 to Chelsea earlier in the campaign, as pressure continues to build on Graham Potter in East London.

This saw the stands empty quickly, especially after Tomas Soucek was sent off for West Ham for a terrible challenge on Joao Palhinha.

Unfortunately for those who opted to leave early, a parking crisis looks to have rubbed further salt in the wounds for the claret and blue faithful.

West Ham fans hampered by Westfield car park fire

There has been plenty of scrutiny aimed towards the hierarchy in E20 as supporters continue to vent their frustration towards the boardroom.

This has seen West Ham fans share a no-confidence vote against the board, with the London Stadium being a particular point of annoyance.

It is fair to say that this is unlikely to improve in East London, especially now that some supporters have lost access to their own vehicles at full-time.

This comes after reports emerged earlier in the day that a fire had broken out in a car park, resulting in Westfield shopping centre being evacuated.

BBC News reported on 13 September that “about 12 vehicles” were set alight on the second floor of car park C before being brought under control by authorities by 05:54pm.

Now, any West Ham fans who happened to have parked in this area of the car park have been blocked from entry and told that they can’t get their vehicle for the rest of the day.

A message reads: “There has been a fire in car park C at Westfield Stratford. If you have parked in car park C, you will not be permitted access to this car park or your vehicle today. Please contact Westfield directly for more information.”

West Ham fans dealt further frustration after Tottenham defeat

As if it wasn’t bad enough to see your side smashed 3-0, some fans may not be able to get home in a timely fashion as a result of this fire.

This could result in what some fans are likely to see as one of the worst days watching the Hammers at the London Stadium, especially because it was against Tottenham.

Those impacted will now have to wait and see how they can make their way back from East London and how and when they can retrieve their vehicles.
