West Ham expected to knock on Fiorentina’s door for Nikola Milenkovic

West Ham are reportedly expected to reignite their pursuit for Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic this summer.

According to Fiorentina News, the Hammers could knock on the door of the Serie A side to sign the 24-year-old this summer.

It’s understood that fellow Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan will also be keen on signing the Serbia international.

Along with Jesse Lingard, Milenkovic was another player who the Hammers fought tooth and nail to sign.

At the end, David Moyes vetoed the move and ensured that the club signed Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.

While that move wasn’t a bad decision, the Hammers clearly needed to add two centre-backs to an ageing and frail defence.

That was the case in the January transfer window too, but once again, they did not make a move for Milenkovic.

Zouma’s 19th minute header cancelled out Spurs’ early opener and ensured a point for West Ham.

Now, signing him is going to be harder than ever given the fact that two Serie A giants are also understood to be keen.

They both can offer him Champions League football, something West Ham can guarantee only if they win the Europa League.

Thus, it remains to be seen whether or not Milenkovic actually ends up at the London Stadium.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have scouted a £20m-rated ‘Dangerous’ British striker and are keen to seal a permanent move ahead of this summer transfer window.
