West Ham defender Ben Johnson faces a plethora of setback timescales given the severity of his groin injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has detailed the best and worst-case scenarios for the English full-back who’ll be using the international break to regain fitness.

A tightness appears to be the most benign issue while a rupture may even see him miss a few months.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:

“The best case here is a just tightness without any overt tearing which is a Grade 0 muscle injury.

“The worst case would be a Grade 4 complete rupture which could even mean months out.

I highly doubt it’s anything close to the latter based on team reports so I’d keep an eye on what he’s doing over the international break.

The 23-year-old is yet to feature in the Premier League this season with his only game coming in the League Cup.

Johnson played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 victory away to Lincoln on 27 September for the Hammers.

Last season, he played 17 league games but is finding game time too hard to come by under David Moyes.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are now frustrated with a £10m player as a behind-the-scenes revelation has emerged from the London Stadium.
