West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell in contention for Liverpool clash

West Ham manager David Moyes has confirmed that defender Aaron Cresswell will be in “contention” to feature against Liverpool on Saturday (March 5) as per Football London.

The left-back could be set to return against his boyhood club having sat out of the FA Cup loss against Southampton last time out.

He comes back in time for the Premier League clash where the Hammers will look to continue their Champions League push as they sit two points off Manchester United in fifth.

Great news

Cresswell is a brilliant left-back. Often the modern-day fullback can have one major strength either in attack or defence, but he can do both equally well.

His eight-goal involvements across all competitions have been key to the Hammers’ success this season and him being on the pitch seemingly increases their chances of scoring with his excellent deliveries into the box – especially from set-pieces.

Not only that, the Englishman makes the defence much more robust when he is a part of it which is hugely important and very different to what his replacements offer.

It is imperative that the Irons have as many of their key players fit and firing for the remainder of the season.

Moyes named a strong side against the Saints last night but the team still fell short at St. Mary’s. If Cresswell and some of the other injured Hammers were available, West Ham might have won and booked themselves a place in the quarterfinals of yet another cup.

It is a shame they are out of the FA Cup but there are still two competitions to fight in and every single player needs to do their best to stay fit and give their all for the team.
