West Ham could sell first-team defender if they signed Nayef Aguerd
West Ham are reportedly continuing talks with Rennes over their central defender Nayef Aguerd this summer.
According to 90Min, the Hammers are likely to let go of a first-team centre-back if they manage to sign the 26-year-old.
Kurt Zouma, Craig Dawson, Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna are currently the top four options available to David Moyes at the club.
He was valued at a fee in the region of 20million last summer [The Telegraph].
We do not see either Zouma or Dawson being shipped off this summer by the Hammers hierarchy.
The former was a major signing last summer while the latter had an incredible season deputising for Ogbonna.
He did not make Moyes feel the need of signing another defender and played terrifically right until the end of the campaign.
Ogbonna, on the other hand, could be shown the door at the London Stadium this summer.
The Italian is in his mid 30s and will be returning from a season-ending injury layoff.
There are no guarantees that he will be the same player he was before getting injured either.
Diop’s performances have also been far from great so we will not be surprised if Moyes sanctions his exit.
Aguerd has impressed in Ligue 1 a great deal and has been labelled a ‘diamond‘
He would undoubtedly bolster the Hammers defence for another European finish next season.
