West Ham could face games without Kurt Zouma as prosecution nears

West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma could be set for a spell out of the Hammers’ team as the RSPCA nears the end of his animal cruelty investigation.

The Frenchman was videoed last month kicking his pet cat on social media and saw those pets taken out of his care as a result.

The Irons fined him two weeks’ wages after the incident but David Moyes has continued to select him while the investigation was ongoing.

The Daily Mail report that the investigation is now nearing its conclusion and the 27-year-old may be set for prosecution and sanctions very soon.

That might mean Moyes won’t have Zouma available for selection which would hit his team badly given the Frenchman’s exceptional form in the past few games.

Kurt’s brother Yoan was suspended by his club Dagenham and Redbridge for filming the video and he too is under investigation from the RSPCA.

Deserves whatever he gets

We’ve all heard the boos from opposition supporters whenever Zouma has been on the ball and it’s not a surprise to hear either.

The 27-year-old will now be more than aware of the errors of his ways and whatever punishment he is dealt with, he needs to take on the chin and accept.

But if he is suspended for however many games or given a whopping great big fine, he shouldn’t see his entire career go down the swanny as a result.

Every single person on planet earth has made a mistake of some description in their lifetime, maybe not as big as this, and we’ve been forgiven and moved past whatever happened.

It might be more difficult to do that when you are in the public eye but we need to be more forgiving to these people and let them make mistakes.

You can put your mortgage on Zouma never doing anything like this again and that, ultimately, is the most important thing.

Everybody deserves a second chance once they have learned their lesson and Zouma is no different.

In other West Ham news, a decision has been made regarding the future of on-loan midfielder Alex Kral.
