West Ham confident Moyes will stay despite Everton speculation
West Ham remain confident David Moyes will sign a new three-year deal at the London Stadium despite fresh speculation linking him with a return to Everton, according to Sky Sports.
Moyes, 58, has done a wonderful job in East London, saving the Hammers from relegation last season before leading them to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League and Europa League qualification this term.
According to The Times, Everton have turned their attention towards re-hiring Moyes after Carlo Ancelotti quit Goodison Park on Tuesday to return to Real Madrid.
Sky Sports reported on their Transfer Centre on Tuesday [04:23pm] that despite speculation linking Moyes with a move away from West Ham, the London club expects him to sign a new long-term contract with them with talks at an advanced stage.
No Goodison return for Moyes
Moyes isn’t going to be out of contract this summer no matter what happens with the talks over new deal.
It is understood that West Ham’s impressive performance this season has automatically triggered a 12-month extension to the current deal Moyes has at the London Stadium.
However, it’s clear that the club’s board has been so impressed by the Scot’s work that they’re willing to offer him a bigger and better contract.
It makes a lot of sense because let’s face it, when is the last time we had a manager do as well as Moyes?
Sure, Slaven Bilic took us to Europe but the team didn’t perform half as well in the final season at the Boleyn Ground as they have done this term, with Moyes almost taking West Ham to the Champions League.
Let’s hope Moyes can build on that success and use the Europa League as a lure to attract top players – of course a good transfer and wage budget will help too.
As for Everton, they need to look elsewhere.
Moyes’ future is here.
