West Ham co-owner David Gold drools over ‘magnificent’ Hammer on Twitter

West Ham supporters must have been rubbing their eyes in disbelief after watching their side yesterday.

The Hammers looked like a new team under David Moyes, romping to a 4-0 win over Bournemouth to drag themselves out of the bottom three.

Whether that was due to some kind of miraculous overhaul of their fortunes, or rather a reflection on how poor the Cherries have been in recent times is hard to say, but whatever the reality of the situation, a win is a win.

The most notable beneficiary of Moyes’ return to east London was skipper Mark Noble, who hit a first half brace to inspire his side to a much needed victory over their fellow strugglers.

And his influence was so great that it drew praise from co-owner David Gold.

Writing on his personal Twitter account in the aftermath of the game, he said: “West Ham 4 Bournemouth 0.

“Welcome back David Moyes.

“Captain Mark Noble, you were magnificent.”

It’s hard to argue with him either.

Aside from his two goals, Noble also managed two tackles, two interceptions,  a key passes, a successful dribble, a pass completion rate in excess of 87.1%, and a Whoscored rating of 9.16.

This was an all-action performance from the skipper, and a timely reminder of just how useful he can be when it comes dictating a game.

The fact of the matter is that he is approaching the twilight of his career, and performances like this are probably an unrealistic expectation every week, but the veteran midfielder still possesses a serious amount of quality, not to mention an unparalleled amount of passion.

If he can kick on from this and keep the momentum going for a few weeks longer, it will give David Moyes a great chance of bedding himself back into the club with a few important results, and could be vital to the Hammers’ hopes of climbing the table.
