West Ham chief Karren Brady makes Tottenham admission in newspaper column
West Ham fans will be hoping that Karren Brady has made the right decisions with David Sullivan over the winter transfer market.
The Hammers have splashed that cash, as Nuno Espirito Santo attempts to keep his side in the Premier League.
Brady and Sullivan in particular have come under fire from supporters in recent times for their handling of the club, with many suggesting that the relegation scrap is on their hands.
The Irons currently sit in 18th place in the league standings, and things are looking more positive after an active transfer window.
However, Brady has pinpointed the key importance of staying in the Premier League after Tottenham‘s recent European success.

Premier League importance put into focus in Karren Brady’s Tottenham claim
West Ham are still looking for more signings after the arrival of Adama Traore from Fulham, with the Hammers still five points away from Nottingham Forest in 17th.
The repercussions of relegation could be catastrophic for the Irons, with the London Stadium in particular a key issue.
- West Ham would lose major matchday sales if they were relegated
- The London Stadium has around 62,500 seats available
- Even in the Premier League, West Ham’s ground is not selling out
On page 65 of Brady’s column for The Sun on Saturday, she spoke about the latest round of Champions League results, pointing towards the fact that up to six Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, could make it through to the knockout stages.
Brady wrote: “Never before has a nation had six sides in the last 16 but it could very well happen this time. It is a remarkable picture of potency and confirms the Premier League as the dominant force in world football.
“The fact Spurs finished fourth in the Champions League table but are 14th in their domestic league tells it’s own story.”
The takeaway from this is the revenue that clubs in England make from simply being in the top flight.
English sides have a major advantage over other European clubs due to the TV rights and other sponsorship bonuses that come with being in the Premier League.

Dropping to the Championship could set the Hammers back years, and there’s no surprise that Sullivan is chucking everything he’s got to keep his side in the richest league in the world.
Who could West Ham sign next?
Nuno will be delighted with the business that has been conducted so far, but it’s now up to him to get attention out of the new arrivals.
The former Wolves head coach was keen on reuniting with Traore, but is now looking at further defensive options ahead of Monday’s deadline.
The Hammers have had a bid in the region of eight figures for Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis turned down.
But, Sullivan and Co. now have their eyes on a potential loan deal for Chelsea’s Axel Disasi.
West Ham fans have been begging for their club to replace Max Kilman, and they could soon have their wishes granted.
