West Ham can do a Leicester says Jamie O’Hara

TalkSPORT pundits Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara have suggested that West Ham can win a trophy this season.

The Hammers narrowly missed out on the Champions League spot last season, and they have been brilliant in 2021-22 so far.

Cundy has suggested that the Londoners can match any team toe-to-toe on their day, and there’s no reason to believe why they can’t win a trophy this season.

The Irons find themselves seventh in the Premier League this season, only three points behind league leaders, Liverpool.

They have won three games in a row in all competitions and are heading into this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Brentford on the back of a 2-0 win against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League.

O’Hara has suggested that West Ham can do a Leicester City who won the FA Cup last season. The former Tottenham Hotspur player has suggested that the Hammers need to sign a striker.

“They could do with another striker. They can really cement themselves as a top-six football club… they could do a Leicester,” said O’Hara on talkSPORT.

Cundy added: “Why can’t West Ham do a Leicester and win the FA Cup? Why can’t they win the Europa League?

“There’s no reason why they can’t do something really good this season.”

January transfer priority

O’Hara is absolutely spot on here. West Ham have a good squad and they should aim to establish themselves as a regular top-six side.

David Moyes has found his new home at the London Stadium, while the players are optimistic of doing even better than what they achieved last season.

Moyes need to sign a top-quality striker in January. The Hammers are heavily reliant on Michail Antonio who has been simply on fire this season, scoring six goals already across all competitions.

However, Antonio, 31, is too injury prone and West Ham need another back-up striker who can challenge him for the starting spot.

In the absence of Antonio, the West Ham boss has used Jarrod Bowen as a make-shift option, but surely there should be a proper plan in place to sign a striker in January.

In other West Ham news, Mark Noble has been spotted after a match embracing magic forward who quit Hammers in summer.
