West Ham boss David Moyes wants a left-winger in summer

West Ham boss David Moyes added the left-wing position as an area that needs to be strengthened in the summer transfer window according to Claret & Hugh

The Irons squad is in desperate need of fresh faces having not signed anyone in the January transfer window, much to the disappointment of the fans.

Moyes feels he needs a ‘natural’ left-winger with Pablo Fornals the latest player to carry out a makeshift role on the wing in the Hammers’ win v Wolves yesterday (February 27).

Almost all of West Ham’s attackers have played some minutes in the baron left-wing role this season.

Surprisingly it wasn’t an area that was overly discussed by anyone at the club in terms of strengthening in January. However, that is likely to be due to how desperate Moyes was for a centre-back and striker.

It is without a doubt an area that needs strengthening since the club failed to replace Felipe Anderson following his London Stadium departure.

Thankfully the creative attacking play has been made up for on the other wing with Jarrod Bowen playing well enough to carry the whole front free at times this season.

West Ham

As good as this squad has done over the last two years, it is an ageing one which needs to be West Ham’s biggest concern.

They have several players approaching the end of their careers and if there is no succession plan, all of the progress made by this group could be lost in a heartbeat.

It is vital to get them into the squad as quickly as possible so the new players can learn from the ones playing now, adjust to Irons life and be ready to hit the ground running when called upon.
