West Ham board patience wearing thin as transfer window nears

The West Ham board members are beginning to get restless as manager David Moyes has failed to provide a list of targets ahead of the January transfer window, according to Claret and Hugh.

The well-connected insider suggests that owners David Sullivan and David Gold, along with new co-owner Daniel Kretinsky, are ‘ready to spend money in this window’ if they are given targets to go after.

Defence is a well-known priority for the Hammers in this window with injuries leaving them with a skeleton back line in recent games.

While this isn’t an irregular occurrence, Gold and Sullivan are increasingly frustrated that they have been unable to start talks with clubs over transfer fees given Kretinsky’s fortune now allows them to be more liberal with their backing of the manager.

Kretinsky himself even wrote an open letter to the fans in which he publicly stated that he would back Moyes in whatever targets he wanted and supported his recruitment style in general.

As of yet though, neither Moyes or Head of Recruitment Rob Newman have submitted a list for the owners to chase which has ruffled some feathers in the boardroom.

The Scotsman also did this in the summer when he waited until he was certain before revealing his ideal signings to the board.

His number one choice back in August was Kurt Zouma who the board went out to spend £30million on to bring the Frenchman to the London Stadium.

While waiting can work in the summer with three months of transfer window to play with, things need to move more quickly in January and the board are very keen to get business done as early as possible with the congested fixture list ahead for the Irons.

In other West Ham news, talks are ongoing at the club for this Euro 2020 winning attacker.
