West Ham battle Everton for Juventus defender Federico Gatti, £26.5m summer move on the cards

West Ham United want to sign Juventus defender Federico Gatti with the Serie A side prepared to sell the 24-year-old this summer, according to Serie B News.

Serie B News claim the Italian international could well be available for £26.5million, with Juventus viewing the figure as a standard selling price to Premier League clubs.

Gatti has impressed for Massimiliano Allegri’s side in recent weeks and it’s understood the Hammers face competition from Everton for the Juventus star.

With Craig Dawson leaving the club and Angelo Ogbonna reaching the end of his time at West Ham, another defender could well be an option heading into the summer window. Nayef Aguerd has eased into life in the Premier League but has yet to show his full worth.

The Juventus defender certainly looks like an exciting prospect. He’s still relatively young and has a good level of experience for the Serie A club.

It will be interesting to know how much planning is going on behind the scenes when it comes to West Ham’s transfer business. The Hammers’ Premier League status is far from secure and this could well be hampering the board’s preparations heading into the summer window.

After the disappointing 2022/23 season, another significant investment will be required to finally get the squad back performing to the levels which were set in the 2021/22 campaign.

For now, Moyes will be looking to get West Ham’s Premier League status secured as soon as physically possible to allow for planning for the summer to start in earnest.
