West Ham appoint new Supporters Liaison Officer

West Ham have appointed a new Supporters Liaison Officer (SLO) named Sophie Lawson, according to Claret and Hugh.

Lawson was a club employee at the Boleyn Ground and the first two seasons at the London Stadium and has now returned as the SLO.

She will be looking after the club’s contact with fans across all of their channels and work closely with West Ham United supporters’ groups.

The new SLO hopes to continue the relationships she built with fans from her previous spells in the Ticketing and Supporter Services teams.

Club needs to do more

Hiring a new SLO is certainly not going to be enough as GSB need to do a lot more to improve their equation with the Hammers fans.

Their relationship with the supporters is strained, to say the least, and it’s down to the broken promises of the past.

The lack of trust went to an all-time high during the club’s move from the Boleyn Ground to the London Stadium and performances on the field are what’s keeping most of the fans quiet.

That said, protests are still being conducted and we believe that they’re the right things to do, especially when the owners do not seem to be caring about the fans.

Hopefully, things start to improve and this is the first step taken in the right direction.

Good recruitments and results will go a long way towards pacifying the fanbase and we’re seeing that happen over the last 18 months.
