West Ham and Ajax reach verbal agreement over move for Nicolas Tagliafico

West Ham United and Ajax have reached a verbal agreement about a move for left-back Nicolas Tagliafico, according to De Telegraaf.

The 28-year-old Argentina international could fetch the Eredivisie outfit around £10.3million, but he is yet to agree to personal terms with the Hammers.

Tagliafico is currently in Venezuela for international duties ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers, but his agent Ricardo Schlieper is in Amsterdam at the moment to finalise a deal for the player.

Huge

West Ham need to strengthen at left-back given Arthur Masuaku’s frequent injury, and there is no doubt that the Argentine can give Aaron Cresswell a run for his money if personal terms can be reached.

Tagliafico brings loads of Champions League experience to the table, and David Moyes’ side could do with that as they look to impress in their first-ever Europa League group stage campaign.

Landing another international star will also come as a huge boost for the Irons in subsequent transfer windows.

West Ham

Most players want to play at a club filled with colleagues at the top of their game, and representing your country is testament to that.

With a few hours left in the summer transfer window, West Ham need to quickly get a medical done and sort out personal terms, and signing such a talented star will further boost their top-six chances this term and going forward.

With two league titles and a Copa America title to his name, the Hammers will be landing a proven winner in Tagliafico.

He can also play at centre-back, and Moyes could do with additional options in that position after landing Kurt Zouma.
