West Ham admire Phil Jones as David Moyes eyes reunion
West Ham United are admirers of Manchester United centre-back Phil Jones and David Moyes is keen to work with him again, according to Euro Sport.
The 29-year-old is considering a new challenge with the Red Devils contemplating letting him leave on a free transfer this summer.
Should Man Utd release him, the Hammers are ready to offer Jones a highly incentivised deal – which would be low but includes appearance-based add-ons.
Risk-worthy?
We need to get in a new centre-back this summer as there is no quality depth in that department, and landing one for free would not hurt our pockets.
West Ham want the Man Utd man to prove his fitness and worth by including some smart terms in the contract should he move to the London Stadium, and we believe there is nothing to lose here.
Jones could still have something left in the tank as he is only still 29 – an age most defenders reach their prime – and reuniting with Moyes could hand him much-needed career revival.
Should the former Blackburn Rovers man rediscover his mojo at the London Stadium, it could prove to be a very smart transfer move in the end.
Not many of us gave Craig Dawson a chance when West Ham were first linked, but he has proven to be a shrewd addition after all.
Jones deserves a second chance and another shot at Premier League relevance, and the Irons have nothing to lose if things do not work out.
