West Ham ace Vladimir Coufal to return from injury after international break – report

Vladimir Coufal will provide West Ham with a big boost with the Czech Republic player set to make his return after the international break, according to Claret & Hugh.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined since February when he was forced off the pitch with a groin injury against Leicester City.

The right-back could be fit enough to be involved in the squad against Everton but will “certainly” be fit to face Burnley.

Coufal has been tipped to restore his place as the Irons’ first-choice right-back but David Moyes will have a tough decision on his hands with Ben Johnson in immaculate form.

Huge boost

As much as this is terrific news for the Hammers, he hasn’t really been missed.

Johnson has done excellently as he always does when called upon in defence which certainly softened the blow of losing his Czech teammate.

Even before his injury, Coufal was suffering with his form. the defender was finding it very difficult to maintain the excellent standard he showed last season and for large parts of this season.

It is a shame because before he was riddled with injuries this season, he was on a roll.

Moyes should continue to monitor him as he makes his return but keep Johnson as the starter. All of West Ham’s games are too important to lose so it would be a big risk if the Scot threw in Coufal before he was ready and lost them the game.

It will be great to have him back to compete with Johnson, ensuring the 22-year-old continues to give his with there now being a genuine chance he could be dropped because there wasn’t with Ryan Fredericks lurking in the background.
