West Ham ace Michail Antonio destroyed by Jan van Halst

Sebastien Haller is ‘three classes’ better than West Ham forward Michail Antonio, according to Ziggo Sport analyst Jan van Halst.

The former Ajax player branded the 31-year-old Hammers forward ‘clumsy and unpolished’ following his performance v Newcastle United yesterday (February 19).

“At the start of the season, he did reasonably well, but not at all in the last few weeks,” Voetball Primeur report him telling Ziggo Sport.

West Ham

“He is so clumsy and unpolished. I think this team actually deserves a better striker. One that can hold onto the ball and get you playing.

“Surely Haller is three classes better than this? He’s not in form at all at the moment, either. He totally should be, with his limited technical ability.

“The offering is also mediocre. He not only has hard feet but a hard body. That ball bounces all over the place. I really think it’s one of the weakest positions at West Ham.”

Delusional

Van Halst obviously didn’t watch Haller whilst he was at West Ham then did he?

West Ham

The 27-year-old was dubbed one of the Hammers worst signings in recent years following his dreadful spell at the club after signing for a staggering £45million and only managing 14 goals in all competitions.

Understandably, he has gone on to prove his worth in Holland with Ajax but whether it was the wrong time in his career, playing in the Premier League or never really finding his feet at West Ham, he had to go.

The criticism Antonio finds himself under from the Dutchman is somewhat justified but also unfair.

He has led the line all season long by himself and has barely had a break with international responsibilities with Jamaica seeing to that.

Yes, he isn’t the easiest player on the eye and his technical ability could be much better but nobody will be complaining about the 17 goals he has been involved with in all competitions this season.

With that being said, a back-up striker in the summer window is essential for next season.
