West Ham ace Issa Diop courted by Monaco and Manchester United

West Ham United may have a battle on their hands to keep hold of French defender Issa Diop with interest from both England and France, according to Foot Mercato.

The 25-yeard-old is highly likely to miss the rest of this season through injury but that seemingly hasn’t put off Monaco and Manchester United who are both courting him ahead of a potential summer move.

Foot Mercato also say that the Hammers will ask for roughly £12.5million should they receive sufficient interest for Diop with Lyon also reportedly keeping a watchful eye on his performances and situation at the London Stadium.

As well as the aforementioned trio, AC Milan are keen to bring Diop to Italy with a few more unnamed English clubs also in the hunt to sign him despite being arguably David Moyes’ third-choice.

Too cheap

In today’s modern transfer market, £12.5million seems very low for a player who has the quality of Diop and also has plenty of years ahead of him in his career.

It should be becoming more and more obvious to the Hammers that they haven’t priced him highly enough given the interest that is swarming in from across Europe.

Zouma’s 19th minute header cancelled out Spurs’ early opener and ensured a point for West Ham.

Right now though, Moyes would be selecting Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson as his defensive duo (if he had a fully-fit side) so it isn’t like he needs Diop desperately next season.

He may even be looking for a new central defender which would push the 25-year-old further down the pecking order so they can afford to push the limits of those interested with their asking price.

Keep rising the number until there is only one team left willing to pay it and then you snap their hand off before they can say no.

In other West Ham news, Frank McAvennie wants this Irons ace to remain at the club next season with a contract clause ready to be activated.
