West Ham ace Declan rice set to be subject of record-breaking transfer

Manchester United are prepared to break their transfer record to sign West Ham United’s Declan Rice in the summer, according to 90min.

The 23-year-old has been priced at £150million by the Hammers who are insistent on keeping the England international at the club beyond the end of this season.

The Red Devils are still searching for a new manager though and Ajax’s Erik Ten Haag appears set to take over with Rice high on his agenda.

90min claim that they are willing to break their own transfer record, currently at £89million which they paid for Paul Pogba, to bring Rice to Old Trafford.

They also state that Rice and his representatives have made it clear to West Ham that this will be their last year together with a transfer being pursued in the summer.

No better off

If Rice decides he would prefer playing for Manchester United over West Ham, it will only be for a purely monetary reason.

The 20-time Premier League champions can offer far more than we can in terms of wages and a whopping great big signing bonus.

But on the pitch, we are better placed to reach the Champions League than they are so if that is his immediate goal, why would he leave?

There is an argument to suggest we are favourites to win the Europa League this season which would automatically guarantee our participation in the Champions League next season.

United, meanwhile, will have to dramatically pick up form domestically, having already been dumped out of Europe to Atletico Madrid, to have a chance of reaching the top four but that looks unlikely right now.

Rice has to ask himself some serious questions now about whether he wants footballing success or money from his career.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes has taken aim at the Premier League and the FA after Lyon gained a clear advantage for their Europa League clash.
