Vladimir Coufal not in West Ham United plans after Thilo Kehrer signing – Dharmesh Sheth

Vladimir Coufal is thought not to be in David Moyes’ plans which could see the West Ham United man leave in January, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Czech Republic international has rarely featured for the Irons ever since German international Thilo Kehrer moved to right-back following the return to fitness of other centre-halves.

Ben Johnson is also ahead of the 30-year-old in the pecking order at the London Stadium.

“If you look at the stats, he’s [Coufal] made seven Premier League starts this season. The likes of Ben Johnson have started ahead of him at right-back,” Sheth said to Give Me Sport.

“I think more significantly when centre-back Nayef Aguerd was injured in pre-season, the club signed Thilo Kehrer. I think he was predominantly brought in as a central defender, but what has transpired is that he’s ended up playing right-back.

“If that’s not a message to Vladimír Coufal that he’s not part of the plans, then I don’t know what is.”

Time to go

It has been a very entertaining couple of years for Coufal at West Ham but the time has come for him to move on and start a new chapter in his football career.

Moyes has made it obvious that he is no longer the first or even second choice to play at right-back and his inability to do anything else makes him sort of irrelevant now.

Johnson and Kehrer can do a job no problem and Harrison Ashby is still at the club too to provide backup before getting into all of the academy talents waiting for a chance.

There are clubs waiting to try and sign Coufal in January should Moyes allow him to leave so this seems like the perfect time for West Ham to cash in.

He is only going to depreciate in value from here on out so while he is still worth a reasonable amount, get him gone.
