View: Youri Tielemans should be top priority signing for West Ham

West Ham are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Youri Tielemans in the summer transfer window, according to reports from 90min.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has rejected contract extension offers from the Foxes. According to Fabrizio Romano, he is unlikely to sign a new deal at the club.

He has less than 18 months remaining on his contract, and the club have a big decision to make on his future in the summer. There is already an acceptance that they have to sell their prized asset.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle are also keen to secure his signature, but the Hammers must make his signing a priority.

The Belgian international is a technically gifted midfielder who has performed incredibly well in the Premier League since joining the Foxes in 2019 from Monaco.

He started his career as a holding midfielder but went on to become a fantastic attacking midfielder. His playing qualities be compared to that of Frank Lampard or Axel Witsel.

He has incredible fitness, having managed 38 Premier League games last season, and 37 before that.

Tielemans has scored 64 goals in his career and he would be a massive signing for the club. This season, he has managed six goals and two assists in the Premier League so far.

West Ham need to bolster their attacking department, and along with signing a striker, they must add a player of Tieleman’s ilk to their ranks.

Jarrod Bowen is doing a wonderful job at the moment, but goals from midfield are lacking under Moyes. Tielemans can provide that, and in the process, would add dynamism to the side.
