View: West Ham target Junior Adamu has the potential to be a prolific signing for the Hammers
As reported by the Daily Mail on Saturday [28 May], West Ham are keeping tabs on RB Salzburg striker Junior Adamu and he certainly has the potential to be an exciting addition at the London Stadium.
The right-sided striker has seven goals and three assists for the Austrian side in what has been a breakthrough season for the 20-year-old.
The Nigerian-born forward certainly has some impressive stats in the 2021/22 season.
As per Wyscout, Adamu ranks seventh in the whole of the Austrian Bundesliga for expected goals per 90.
With an average of 0.56, the striker should be scoring just over a goal every other game.
With his actual output of seven goals in 30 appearances this season, it shows that he has been underperforming his actual potential, which is a good sign for Irons fans.
He consistently finds goalscoring positions and is potentially being let down by lax finishing.
Considering he is only 20, there is plenty of time for him to work on his finishing ability and become a clinical striker.
The striker’s knack for finding goalscoring positions is displayed by the number of touches he has in the opposition box.

Adamu has the third highest amount of touches in the opponent’s box in the whole of the Austrian Bundesliga with 94 and 4.88 per 90.
He is clearly a player that is a constant threat but has not reached his potential in terms of goalscoring output at present.
Finally, the striker is not afraid to test the keeper when given the chance.
He averages 2.85 shots per 90 min and 55 efforts throughout the season.
Interestingly the 6ft striker has also notched 16 headed shots this season which could well suit the Hammers’ set-piece prowess.
Considering his age and potential to improve, a move for the striker should be something David Moyes looks into.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are in advanced talks to seal their first major new signing of the summer transfer window.
