View: Right decision made as West Ham look to offload Ryan Fredericks

West Ham could offload Ryan Fredericks in the January transfer window, according to reports from The Sunday Mail.

David Moyes could be looking to offload a few players to free up the wages and space for potential new arrivals in January.

The Sunday Mail claim (02 January, page 142) along with Fredericks, West Ham could allow Andriy Yarmolenko and Darren Randolph to leave this month.

The 29-year-old joined the Hammers in 2018 on a free transfer from London rivals Fulham.

He hasn’t always been consistent but has produced some “sensational” performances at the London Stadium.

However, he has made only one substitute appearance in the Premier League, but he featured three times in the Europa League campaign this season.

The right-back is well down the pecking order at the club behind Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson.

His participation in the first team has been further hampered by injuries and the gradual rise of Harrison Ashby.

It would be ideal for the vastly experienced defender to move out in January and seek for pastures new.

He will be out of contract at West Ham in the summer. The Hammers, therefore, could be tempted to cash in on him now, though they can’t expect to get a big fee for him.

On his day, Fredericks can be a devastating player, but he appals more than he appeases. His defending has been criticised in the past, and it seems his future lies away from the club this month.

In other West Ham news, the Irons are in the hunt to sign this striker who’s been dubbed as a new Michail Antonio.
