Two changes for West Ham United in starting line-up v Norwich

West Ham have made two changes to the side that crashed out of the Europa League in Germany on Thursday evening to play Norwich at Carrow Road.

West Ham’s official twitter account confirmed the minimal changes to David Moyes’ side on Sunday.

The West Ham boss has dropped Tomas Soucek for Said Benrahma and Lukasz Fabianski replaces Alphonse Areola in goal.

Huge challenge for Moyes

Today’s fixture at Norwich is a must win in West Ham if they want to be playing Europa League football next season.

Manchester United currently occupy sixth spot with David Moyes’ men six points behind with two games in hand.

It is going to be a mammoth challenge for Moyes to regather his side after a hugely disappointing Europa League exit against Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, if the Irons don’t forget about their misery in Germany quickly, they could be facing a season without European football.

West Ham

After their well-documented move to the London Stadium and promise of Champions League football, a season with no European football would be a failure.

Regardless of their run to the Europa League semi-final, the Hammers must achieve something this season.

If they want to continue their upward trajectory as a club, then European football is a requisition.

The likes of Declan Rice will be glamouring for Champions League football and if they can’t achieve that at West Ham, then he will likely go elsewhere.

West Ham have come a long way in recent years, largely down to the influence of David Moyes.

Yet, all of their progress could be undone if they don’t qualify for a European competition next season.

Their Uefa Conference League spot looks relatively safe after Wolves’ poor recent form, but after their remarkable Europa League run they need to be challenging for Europe’s top competition.
