Troy Deeney predicts West Ham United v Burnley scoreline in Premier League showdown on Sunday
Troy Deeney has predicted West Ham to beat Burnley when the two sides go head-to-head on Sunday (10 March).
Speaking in a video on his personal TikTok account on Saturday (9 March), the pundit, who correctly predicted Manchester United to beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday, said the Clarets try to do all the right things, but that they aren’t good enough in either box.
He predicted the Hammers to be a “little bit smarter” than the bottom-of-the-league side and to claim a 2-0 victory at the London Stadium as David Moyes looks to make it three Premier League victories in a row.
“I think Burnley, they try to do all the right stuff, but they’ve not got enough in both boxes,” said Deeney. “I’m going to go West Ham to win that game, just by being a little bit smarter than them, a bit more game-ready. I’m going to say 2-0 West Ham win.”
West Ham need to build up momentum against Burnley
It had looked as though West Ham might just have been building up some momentum on the back of the victories over Brentford and Everton before the disappointing Europa League defeat to Freiburg.
But three points against Burnley would ensure it’s three wins in a row and would put the Hammers right back on the heels of sixth-placed Manchester United.
That is quite unbelievable given the form they have been in during this calendar year, making the possibility of qualifying for European football again a very realistic possibility.
Moyes will know that his side simply must be beating teams like the Clarets if they are to achieve that goal, though, so he is likely to name a strong side.
The Scotsman will have one eye on the second leg against Freiburg on Thursday with his team selection, but he needs to take care of Premier League business first at the London Stadium.
In other West Ham news, sources have claimed a Premier League manager is now in the frame to replace Moyes.
