Troy Deeney not excited after what he has seen from Graham Potter at West Ham
Graham Potter has not had the smoothest start to life at West Ham and Troy Deeney has admitted he is unsure about things to come.
Although David Sullivan stood by Julen Lopetegui for way too long, the Hammers eventually decided to part ways with the Spaniard, with Potter as his replacement.
However, life has got off to a slow start in East London and Potter has only registered one win from his six games so far.
Troy Deeney isn’t excited about Graham Potter
By the time West Ham parted ways with Lopetegui, it certainly wasn’t a decision that was splitting the fans with many feeling as though his time in East London had never really got going.
Furthermore, the appointment of Potter was an exciting prospect with the complete change that was needed at The London Stadium.
With that being said, it was always going to be more of a long-term project under the 49-year-old, especially with resources limited in the winter transfer window due to how much Lopetegui spent in the summer.
The circumstances haven’t been the easiest with Jarrod Bowen injured in recent weeks, Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug also being subjected to the sidelines leaving the boss with little breathing space at the top end of the pitch.
Nevertheless, speaking live on talkSPORT (18 February, 8:09am), Deeney admitted he’s yet to be convinced by Potter as he said: “I do think it’s a difficult job to take over at West Ham.
“David Moyes did an unbelievable job which probably wasn’t realistic to where they are now. Julen Lopetegui was a weird one that we all knew from the start was never going to work out.
“So now you’re going in mid-season, trying to change the formation, trying to change the style of play and you’ve lost, well Jarrod’s back now, but you’ve lost both your strikers as well.
“So, it’s a hard one. I don’t get excited either way to be totally honest with you.”

Graham Potter needs West Ham wins
As Deeney says, it hasn’t been the easiest of circumstances for Potter coming into West Ham, not least because of the legacies left by his predecessors.
Supporters will be happy to give their new boss long-term support to allow him to be able to change things at The London Stadium for good, in the future.
However, the Irons need to be doing more at this current moment to create a real gap between themselves and the relegation zone as that is the most important thing.
Potter’s side sits 10 points clear of the relegation zone but as they fail to pick up some results along the way, there will be concerns that they are not showing enough at the moment to maintain this gap.
Therefore, the 49-year-old will be desperate to get another victory under his belt in the hope that his side can then gain some momentum and take it forward, with sights needing to be set on the remainder of this season before the thoughts of any big project going forward.
