Troy Deeney makes unexpected score prediction for West Ham v Aston Villa
Troy Deeney has surprisingly predicted Aston Villa to secure an opening-day win against West Ham.
The Hammers welcome Unai Emery’s side to the London Stadium on Saturday (17 August) as they look to kick off the season with all three points.
In a prediction posted to TikTok on 17 August, Birmingham City fan Deeney has shockingly backed his club’s biggest rivals to win.
He said: “Difficult one. West Ham are going to be on the up with their new signings. Villa have got Champions League so those boys are going to be up for it.”
“I’m going to say a well-earned away day 1-0 victory to Aston Villa.”

The Spaniard has overseen a raft of new transfers coming in which have garnered plenty of excitement among fans.
There has been a fresh feel to the squad with a new look defence being added to by positive reinforcements in attacking areas.
Lopetegui’s tenure starts with a tough test up against a side which secured Champions League football last season under a top manager.
Emery has got Villa playing some great football that has proved to be very effective so it won’t be easy for the Hammers to secure a result.
A win on opening day would be the perfect start to the new era without David Moyes but certainly won’t come easy.
Deeney can’t see the Hammers getting a result but it is yet to be seen how these new signings will gel.
