Trevor Sinclair slams Bowen for late miss as West Ham come unstuck
West Ham United were left to rue missed chances as Leeds United took all three points from the London Stadium thanks to a Jack Harrison hat-trick.
Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals got the Hammers’ goals in the 3-2 defeat in what was an intense and exciting 90 minutes of football.
Bowen had the chance to level the game in the dying seconds but weirdly opted to chest the ball rather than head it and it went sailing over the bar.
Former Hammer Trevor Sinclair was far from pleased with the 25-year-old but admitted it was still a fantastic Premier League game.
“Brilliant game, #lufc have been exceptional tbh, Bowen has to score there but our poor start gave them a leg up and belief!” Sinclair Tweeted.
One game won’t define anything
Even the most diehard West Ham supporter would have to admit that this was not the best performance of the season and every player probably comes under that category.
It wasn’t just Bowen who dropped below his usual high standards so maybe it isn’t fair to criticise just him.
Yes, he should have scored that late chance and why he opted to chest the ball rather than head it, only he knows.
But that isn’t a reason to go after the 25-year-old who has been the standout player of recent weeks in claret and blue and has been tipped for an England call-up.
Today was nothing more than an off day, there is no need to overreact or start to panic that everything is falling apart.
If this continues to happen and results begin to slump, then you can start having a go but just this once, allow the players a bad day, we all have them.
