Trevor Sinclair claims West Ham-linked Tammy Abraham is an ‘Elite forward’
Trevor Sinclair believes West Ham-linked Tammy Abraham is a top-tier striker who would be ideal for Premier League champions Manchester City.
Chelsea forward Abraham, 23, has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium by numerous news outlets, including the Daily Mail.
Speaking on talkSPORT [06:00, 21/05/21], in a video posted on their official YouTube channel, Sinclair and former England international Ray Parlour discussed Abraham’s future with his Chelsea career hanging in the balance.
“West Ham might be in the hunt as well, we mentioned West Ham earlier in the season,” Parlour said.
Sinclair nodded and replied, “Yeah.
“I tell you who could be interested in him and who have not really been rumoured to be interested, is Manchester City.
“I think he’s an elite forward Abraham, he would suit Pep’s [Guardiola] way, I think he’s clinical.”
Guarantee of games could clinch transfer
We’re not sure if Abraham can be considered an elite-level striker just yet but all the signs point towards someone who can reach that status in the next few years.
The former Aston Villa loanee has started just 12 Premier League games this season but he has still scored six goals, a tally beaten only by Jorginho in the Chelsea side and the Italy international’s efforts have all come from the penalty spot.
His omission from the squad that lost the FA Cup final 1-0 to Leicester City on May 18 was further proof of his precarious position under Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.
West Ham are surely firmly in the hunt to secure his signature after the sale of Sebastien Haller in January left the Irons with just injury-prone Michail Antonio as a striker option.
Manchester City could be interested in Abraham with club legend Sergio Aguero set to depart at the end of the season, but would he be guaranteed games at the Etihad Stadium?
A promise of regular football under David Moyes could swing the deal back in our direction.
