Tony Pulis shares ‘frightening’ reaction after what’s been said about Graham Potter at West Ham

Tony Pulis has reacted to the trouble that Graham Potter finds himself in at West Ham.

Potter is fighting to keep his job at West Ham after most recently falling to a fifth defeat of the season, winning just one.

Besides West Ham’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, there has been very little reason for positivity at the London Stadium in recent months.

Things have only gone from bad to worse after West Ham fell to defeat against Crystal Palace last time out, in yet another London derby loss.

This has seen Pulis speak out to share his thoughts on the current situation surrounding Potter in charge of the claret and blue outfit.

Tony Pulis agrees with Mick McCarthy about Graham Potter

With strong links at West Ham for a Slaven Bilic return or a swoop for Nuno Espirito Santo, faith in the English head coach is waning thin.

This can’t come as a surprise after such a poor start to the season, adding to what was a frustrating end to last campaign under the ex-Chelsea boss.

As a result, the wider footballing world is now discussing the future of Potter, who could prove to be the second sacking in the Premier League this campaign.

This has seen McCarthy speak out to suggest that his job is under threat, but he has an issue with the way West Ham supporters treated David Moyes.

Speaking via The Managers podcast on 23 September, he said: “Graham is under serious pressure, I would imagine.

“Can I just say, Charlton, Alan Curbishley, the fans weren’t happy finishing 10th in the Premier League. Where do they end up? In the second division. They got tired of somebody being pragmatic, finishing 10th, and that has been the case at West Ham.”

This was echoed by Pulis, who added: “The number of times [West Ham] spins is frightening. They spin quicker than most. David [Moyes] took them to Europe and won that.

“They had some fantastic performances in the league as well, but it wasn’t enough for the supporters.”

West Ham were wrong to hound out David Moyes

It is fair to say that the Irons’ faithful would have been hopeful of building huge amounts of success off the back of the Conference League win.

Instead, West Ham fans got annoyed with the style of play and ultimately showcased their desire to get rid of Moyes from the London Stadium.

David Moyes had a positive record over two spells at West Ham

That has proven to be a sizable mistake considering how far the performance level of the E20 club have dropped in the past 18 months.

The error in judgment has been summed up well by Pulis and McCarthy, who have been left furious by Moyes’ treatment in East London.
