Tony Cottee shares West Ham player reaction as David Sullivan fiasco called out again

West Ham finally decided to part ways with Graham Potter on Saturday after weeks of uncertainty.

Standout candidate Nuno Espirito Santo has already been appointed to replace Potter, who had the worst record of any Hammers manager in modern history.

Despite the appointment looking like a real coup for the Hammers, David Sullivan continues to come under fire at West Ham.

With uncertainty over what the change of manager will mean for recent protests, Tony Cottee has had his say at the London Stadium.

Tony Cottee slams West Ham for ‘lack of class’

West Ham fans staged a protest before the game against Crystal Palace, and tensions are again expected to be high for the game at Everton.

The Hammers hierarchy will be hoping that Nuno’s appointment changes things, but supporters are still looking to put their foot on the gas.

Supporters are looking to stage a London Stadium lock-in for West Ham’s game with Newcastle on 2 November, with demonstrations also expected for the fixture against Brentford.

Former West Ham striker Cottee has also had his say on the situation.

Writing on X, the former Hammers striker said: “As usual, the fiasco at West Ham is handled with a total lack of class. The players will be delighted to have their fourth Manager in 16 months?!

“What a shambles. As I’ve said before, though, nothing will ever change until this dreadful ownership has left the club.”

Will protests continue under Nuno Espirito Santo?

Cottee was previously an employee of the Hammers as a club ambassador and media representative.

For someone who loves the Hammers so much to still criticise them reaffirms that supporters are right in their stance on continuing protests.

While results might improve under Nuno, there is no doubt that Karren Brady and Sullivan will let the Portuguese manager down in future transfer windows.

The 51-year-old has a reputation for falling out with owners, having had a public disagreement with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, and won’t stand for any shortcomings.

With things not set to improve within the Hammers hierarchy, demonstrations will likely continue but be toned down in order not to affect performances on the pitch.

Something needs to change, quickly.
