Tony Cottee shares brilliant message on Twitter after West Ham 2-2 v Manchester City

Tony Cottee has shared a brilliant message on Twitter after West Ham earned a 2-2 draw against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday (15 May).

It was an emotionally charged atmosphere at the London Stadium, where Mark Noble was playing his final home match for the club. He will retire after the end of the season.

The Hammers scored twice in the first half through Jarrod Bowen, but the champions responded strongly in the second half in a frantic game.

Cottee wrote on Twitter: “Great performance from the boys, it really does show how far we have come over the last few seasons competing with the top teams. A result that also gives us a chance for the Europa League again next season… A wonderful send off for Nobes as well! Mr West Ham.”

Great game

It was a brilliant game and the Hammers deserved something from it.

David Moyes came up with a strong game plan, and it worked really well.

The Hammers sat deep and soaked the early pressure from City and hit them hard on the counter.

However, as expected, City came up with a strong reply with goals from Jack Grealish, and an own goal from Vladimir Coufal.

West Ham

Manchester City thought they would knick it a win when they got a deserved penalty after a VAR check.

Lukasz Fabianski, who was superb throughout the game, produced a magical save to deny Riyad Mahrez.

The Hammers could have won the game had Michail Antonio taken his chance, but he narrowly missed his target.

West Ham have now secured a place in European competition next season, while the title race will head into the final day.

Liverpool still have an outside chance of winning the title, although City still remain favourite.

In other West Ham news, the boss could do with offloading this ageing defender to make room for new arrivals.
