Tony Cascarino in extraordinary West Ham rant as only two players get pass marks in Wolves defeat
Tony Cascarino echoed the thoughts of every West Ham fan after Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Wolves.
Jhon Arias gave Wolves the lead in the fourth minute before Hwang Hee-Chan converted a penalty after Soungoutou Magassa was judged to have fouled Mateus Mane.
Mane then scored his first Premier League goal with a fierce low drive in the 41st minute, and after an uneventful second half, West Ham now look nailed on for relegation.
West Ham are still four points adrift of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, and they missed a huge opportunity to boost their survival hopes at Molineux Stadium.
Nuno Espirito Santo is now under huge pressure, and Cascarino launched himself into an astonishing six-minute rant where only Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen came out unscathed.
Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville the only two players to escape criticism
Summerville was woeful against Fulham on 27 December, and despite a slight improvement against Wolves, he still didn’t provide enough threat going forward.
On the other hand, Bowen is far from at his best, but the West Ham captain still remains their only real hope of escaping relegation.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 4 January, Cascarino was furious with how the Hammers performed, highlighting Bowen and Summerville as the only bright sparks.
He said: “There used to be standards at West Ham, but that’s completely gone now. If they lose Bowen, I’m absolutely certain they’ll go down.

“Some of the goals I saw go in were incredible, and to start slowly against a team that hasn’t won all season is so poor.
“Summerville was probably their best player, but again, he did ok.
It’s a damning indictment of a team’s performance when attacking players in a team that didn’t score are highlighted as the only positives.

The defending was truly abysmal at Molineux Stadium, and it encapsulated everything that has gone wrong for the Hammers this season.

West Ham’s mentality is simply shocking under Nuno
Nuno was absolutely furious after the match, apologising to the fans and taking aim at his players for such a poor performance.
Cascarino added: “There’s a serious character problem within that group. Max Kilman was woeful yesterday; they paid £40million for him.
“He was close to the England squad at one point, but he was shocking. Lucas Paqueta, I’ve spoken about loads of times; I just don’t trust him.
“Nuno is making mistakes. Callum Wilson started yesterday, and he didn’t make an impact.
“But when I watched that team yesterday, I just thought ‘what is this team about?'”
Nuno’s side must regroup ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium, where a loss is simply not an option.
The Hammers haven’t won since November, and with matches coming thick and fast, the Irons are running the risk of being cut adrift in the relegation zone.
