Tomas Soucek wows international media after mauling away from West Ham United
West Ham United star Tomas Soucek received widespread praise for his central role in the Czech Republic’s 6–0 victory against Gibraltar on Monday.
Soucek starred for his nation in their World Cup qualifier win in a quest to reach North America next year, with a play-off now secured.
West Ham made a great decision in signing Soucek back in 2020, and the midfielder is still performing for the Hammers five years later, recently hitting 250 appearances.
West Ham are trying to climb out of a relegation battle, and Soucek’s recent form may be pivotal for Nuno Espirito Santo when the Irons return to Premier League action on Saturday.

Tomas Soucek now has four goals in his last four games
The Hammers want to continue their good momentum after their first consecutive wins in the league this season, going to Bournemouth next.
The international break always splits opinion, but Nuno will be delighted to hear how Soucek has been getting on, making it four goals in as many games on Monday.
Soucek vs Gibraltar:
- Scored one goal
- Made one key pass
- Had a 78% pass accuracy
- Won 100% of his tackles
It seemed like Soucek was everywhere, with the Czech media singling him out for leading by example.
Sports Dunia said: “The captain led by example. he was a commanding presence in the middle of the park. He capped his performance with a classic header, showcasing his aerial prowess. His leadership was evident throughout his time on the pitch.”
They handed Soucek an 8/10 rating.
Czech tabloid Blesk said: “He’s simply a goalscorer; he has scored in four consecutive competitive matches. This time, he capitalised on Chory’s cross to the near post,” handing him a 7/10 rating.

Sports Live also claimed: “The match was special for captain Soucek, who moved up in the historical tables and caught up with Czech legends in the number of starts and goals.”
Soucek is West Ham’s most in-form player
There is speculation at E20 over what will happen with star players, with Jarrod Bowen linked to Liverpool.
However, Nuno will be able to sleep easily at night knowing Soucek has always appeared committed to the Hammers.
Not only that, but Soucek is actually West Ham‘s most in-form player when it comes to scoring goals.
| Game | Goals |
| Czech Republic vs Gibraltar | 1 |
| Czech Republic vs San Marino | 1 |
| West Ham vs Burnley | 1 |
| West Ham vs Newcastle | 1 |
The Irons take on Bournemouth next in the league, and Nuno will have big decisions to make.
Perhaps his easiest decision will be Soucek, as the midfielder simply has to start due to his continuous impressive performances.
