Tomas Soucek exit update emerges amid West Ham United contract mystery as Inter show interest
Fears that Tomas Soucek may be set to leave West Ham have been “allayed” as the club just haven’t announced his contract extension, according to Alex Crook.
The talkSPORT journalist reported on the station’s website on 26 October that amid “strong interest” in the Czech midfielder from Serie A giants Inter his future at the London Stadium has been secured with a new “long-term” deal.
The Athletic had reported on 12 August that Soucek had signed a new four-year contract with the Irons, but in the two months since there had been no official word from the club, prompting speculation that he could still be set to leave.

But according to Crook talkSPORT have been told the deal is indeed done but “simply not been formally announced by the Hammers”
Strange
Soucek’s future has seemingly been up in the air for about two years as his form dipped, but with David Moyes keeping him central to his plans throughout it looked like the question had been answered in August.
The official announcement was presumed to be imminent, so the fact that one never arrived suggested there may have been a late change of plans.
But with another outlet backing up Roshane Thomas’ earlier reporting it seems to be a done deal, although it is odd that West Ham haven’t made that clear.

The club aren’t obliged to inform fans that a player has committed their future to them but there seems no obvious reason not to when it is ostensibly positive news.
Soucek’s exit looked to possibly be on the cards this summer amid an overhaul that included the long-anticipated departure of club captain Declan Rice.
But despite the signing of both Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse the Czech international has once again been picked regularly by Moyes, and has responded with somewhat of a return to form.
So, assuming the current drop off in results doesn’t set in longer-term, it would seem that the club are keeping a positive development close to their chest and Soucek can continue in the midfield for the foreseeable future, or at the very least command a greater transfer fee to leave.
In other West Ham news, the door is now wide open for the club to secure a new partner and possible replacement for the Czech.
