Tom Skinner rages at West Ham United controversy live on talkSPORT, ‘absolute liberty’
Tom Skinner has raged at a controversial incident that happened in the West Ham game against Newcastle United on Sunday (8 October).
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast on Thursday (12 October, 09:25am), the guest said referee Peter Bankes gave a “naughty” free-kick to the Magpies that led to them equalising.
He added that it was an “absolute liberty” and that the official “ruined” what was a “great game” as the sides played out a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium.

“It was a brilliant atmosphere,” said Skinner. “The ref Peter Bankes gave a naughty free-kick to Newcastle when it should have been our free-kick and they made it 1-1. It ruined the game really.
“It was a great game, we came back strong, but that was an absolute liberty.”
Frustrating
The number of poor decisions made by Bankes in the West Ham game against Newcastle was absolutely unacceptable and shouldn’t be happening at this level.
The referee decided not to send Bruno Guimaraes off in the first half despite committing a blatant yellow-card offence for a foul on James Ward-Prowse after already picking up a booking.
He then compounded that mistake by giving the Magpies a soft free-kick for a foul by Lucas Paqueta that led to the visitors equalising.

Those two errors played a major role in the game and, with the Hammers in the lead before both of them took place, there is an argument to suggest he cost us all three points.
It would have been a travesty if we would’ve come with nothing after Newcastle took the lead but, fortunately, Mohammed Kudus popped up to score his first Premier League goal and earn us a point.
