Richard Keys slams shambolic West Ham United after something he’s seen

Richard Keys has brandished Tim Steidten a “shambles” for his role in the Julen Lopetegui saga at West Ham United after he was pictured talking to another manager.

West Ham have endured a horrid season under the Spaniard with a report from talkSPORT [6 January] claiming the Irons have parted ways with Lopetegui, although no official confirmation has yet followed.

Steidten has certainly had his part to play in the regression of West Ham, having been involved with the appointment of Lopetegui in the first place before recently being pictured negotiating with Graham Potter, with Keys slating the way he has gone about his work.

In a post on X [7 January], beIN SPORTS presenter Keys said: “You’ve got a manager – but you’re caught negotiating with another one.

“The guy doing the talking is the same man David Moyes couldn’t work with and who appointed his replacement – who he now wants to sack. What a shambles. Classless.”

Tim Steidten must follow Julen Lopetegui out of West Ham United

While much of the regression can be blamed on the failure of Lopetegui to lead a team, Steidten has played his part in the downfall. If the club are to start progressing, a departure for the two is necessary.

Of course, Steidten’s main role at the club is recruitment, which in recent years has been far from acceptable, with the signing of Niclas Fullkrug potentially the standout failure so far.

West Ham need a fresh start or else the rot will linger over the course of the future, and will undoubtedly have a further impact down the line.

If Potter is to be hired [Sean Whetstone], it’s hard to imagine him being overly keen on working under Steidten given his failures at the club to date.

The ex-Chelsea boss would be an excellent candidate for the Irons, but a failure to back him will severely limit the impact he can have at the London Stadium.

As it stands, Steidten looks incapable of providing the necessary backing from a recruitment point of view.
