Tim Steidten ‘role to change at West Ham United’ with immediate effect

Tim Steidten’s role at West Ham is set to reduce immediately after the arrival of Kyle Macaulay, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Hammers news outlet reported that Macaulay has arrived at the London Stadium to oversee transfer strategy and will report directly to Graham Potter, recommending players with immediate effect.

This means that Steidten will still technically be director of football, but will now have little influence on the recruitment side of things.

Tim Steidten time is up at West Ham

West Ham backed Julen Lopetegui with plenty of money in the summer transfer window so it’s no surprise that there is backlash against him in East London, with the squad drastically underperforming in the campaign so far.

The feeling of many in East London is that the director of football wasted money on transfers that were not worth it, while passing up on players that could have paid off, which is especially stinging given the Irons find themselves without the ability to act freely during the winter transfer window.

The arrival of Macaulay should be a boost to many given he worked with Potter at Chelsea and therefore, will have a good understanding and relationship with the boss. That should lead to success coming to the London Stadium.

With Steidten seemingly out of favour with the Hammers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave the club soon enough as United look to embark on a new era in East London.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have been linked with a move for a Swiss sensation whose previous move collapsed.
