Tim Steidten makes ultimate decision as David Moyes wants to bring Southampton ace James Ward-Prowse to West Ham

Tim Steidten has blocked David Moyes from bringing Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse to West Ham, according to Duncan Castles.

The Times journalist claimed on Twitter on Thursday (3 August) that the Hammers boss is baffled at the intervention after guiding them to a major trophy last season.

This comes after there’s been friction between the duo at the failure to sign new players this summer.

Castles wrote on Twitter, “Understand that West Ham’s new technical director Tim Steidten has blocked David Moyes’ attempt to sign James Ward-Prowse. Steidten looking for cheaper alternatives in midfield (and other positions). Moyes bemused by recruitment strategy after taking 1st trophy in 43 years.”

Shocking

If the West Ham board made the decision to keep Moyes at the club then the least they can do is back him this summer.

They could’ve asked him to leave amicably in the summer and he could’ve gone with his head held high.

Now, things are even more difficult for him as Rice has left, Gianluca Scamacca wants to leave and they lost out on Carlos Borges to Ajax.

This is a clear sign as any that the board does not trust Moyes’ judgement in the market and it could have dire consequences.

A bid had even been made for Southampton’s Ward-Prowse understood to be worth £20m but it was turned down, according to the Daily Mail.

They feel he’s worth more and Moyes wants the Hammers to do everything they possibly can in order to secure his services.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
